Oil painting vs digital painting – what are the differences?

Oil on canvas paintings

Handmade by experienced, talented artists, our oil painted portraits are true works of art.

The artist will begin with a blank canvas and brushstroke by brushstroke bring your painting to life. The result is a portrait made in the same way as the Old Masters, one that will last a lifetime and beyond.

The masterpiece will be delivered to your door mounted/framed and ready to hang.

Digital painting

A digital painting is done by a graphical artist. Sometimes they use a special graphics tablet to draw and paint, and other times they might work on a computer – it depends on the designer’s preference.

By using your photo(s) as a reference and source they will create a work of art that looks like a traditional painting but is printed on high quality artist canvas. The ink and materials mean the results can last over 100 years.

The masterpiece will be delivered to your door mounted/framed and ready to hang.

Gallery wrap (recommended)

The canvas will be stretched over 1.5 inch deep stretcher bars and delivered ready to hang. The sides of the mounted canvas will be a color that matches the main painting to give the modern gallery look.

Rolled canvas

If you intend to get your artwork framed locally we can send the canvas un-stretched, rolled in a protective tube. We include an additional border around the printed/painted area to allow for easier framing.

Framed paintings

We offer a wide variety of frames for customers that prefer a more traditional look.

All framing is done in the USA / Canada to guarantee quality.
